Q1: Can i swivel the display part to show upright if the socket is sideways?
A1: Unfortunately, the display part can't be swiveled, but it has the memory function. The data will stay even if you plug it out.
Q2: Can I use to accurately measure inrush current? Does it register and save such brief spikes in current?
A2: It will display amps or watts and you can see a surge on the display, as say the capacitors charge up in a power supply, or an electric motor draws more power on start up, but it won't store these transient values.
Q3: How do you reset the usage? I don't need to reset the cost Kw/h, just the running totals.
A3: This usage will be reset all, and then you could set the cost again, if you have any problem when reset, please tell us the details, you could send the email to sales02@nashone.cn, we will be surely responsible to this problem.

Digital power meter for household appliances, up to 3.5 kW
Hello everyone. Today on the review is a rather interesting and useful device in everyday life - a power meter (Nashone). At the same time, the device is made very well, functional and gives quite accurate data on consumption, suitable for analysis.
Completeness of delivery and appearance of the meter.
As you can see, the packaging and instructions are very modest, but the same instructions are not really needed, the main thing is not to overload the device, which, however, is very difficult to do if you connect no more than one household consumer to it, which implies the presence of only one outlet (instructions for essence is needed, just understand how to set the cost of kWh).
Device characteristics:
Input voltage: 250V, 50Hz
Working current: 16A.
The permissible power of the connected electrical appliance is up to 3500W (up to 3680W is declared, but the current is declared up to 16A, which is equal to 3500W, and it is better not to exceed this power). There is an overload indicator.
Accuracy standard: class 1.0
Measurement resolution: 0.1W, 0.1V 0.001A and 0.001kWh
Power dissipation by the device itself: <0.8W
Accounting for operating time in the range from 0 seconds to 9999 days.
The maximum stored power value is 9999kW.
The backlight of the device turns on automatically when switching modes, but it burns for no more than 15 seconds, and turns on only when the device is connected to the network.
The device allows you to measure the current voltage in the network and frequency. When a consumer is connected, its current consumption will also be measured, as well as the power factor.
Measuring the power factor, although not the most useful exercise (not everyone understands what it is and why, and what is the benefit of its value), and its increase can usually be influenced only by replacing equipment (for example, changing a power supply unit in a PC), but the higher it is (tends to 1), the less the wiring and the entire network are loaded. A value between 0.8 and 0.95 is considered good.
The connection is three-wire, i.e. the grounding of the connected devices is not disturbed.
By the way, the device came with a working battery (on other models I met angry reviews about this, that the battery is dead, maybe I got a fresh copy, or a better battery, which is unlikely of course).
Due to this, the readings are stored in memory, which is very convenient when you need to monitor any electrical appliance that is completely disconnected from the network for some time.
Resetting values from memory is carried out using a small hidden button (as on routers), apparently to prevent accidental pressing, which prevented it from being taken out separately (for the convenience of resetting), it is not clear.
Also, it is possible to display the minimum and maximum recorded consumption for the entire measurement time.
Controls and functionality.
Switching between modes is carried out using one single button, this button is "FVNC". By pressing it, the device disconnected from the network wakes up from the battery for 10 seconds.
On the first mode (screen), we see the current power consumed by the load (no load will be 0), the current cost of the consumed energy and the total operating time. In fact, this is the "main screen".
Secondly, there is a screen where the value of kWh that has passed through the device is indicated, i.e. energy meter mode.
On the third screen, we can see the current value of the AC voltage in the network and its frequency.
Finally, on the fourth screen, we can see the current value of the current passing through the device and the value of the power factor.
Further, there are two more screens where the minimum and maximum measured power for the entire time of operation of the device is displayed.
Closing, there is a screen where the specified cost of kWh is indicated, a controversial decision, since there is a separate button “Cost” to display this information
At the same time, being connected to the network, the device constantly shows the last of the selected screen, if the power fails, or the device is turned off, it will remember this mode and immediately switch to it when it is turned on again.
In addition to the above two buttons, there are two more buttons UP and DOWN, they are only needed to set the cost of kWh.
Application
There are a lot of applications for this device, for example, it was interesting for me to measure the power consumption for a session of using a multicooker, washing machine and other household appliances, for further calculation of the cost, and to estimate whether there is any significant savings at all, if, for example, use some of the devices during the “night rate” ” when the cost of energy is lower (which are not noisy and do not last very long before the end of the cycle).
Just yesterday I read the news that the poor gentlemen of the energy industry are complaining that electricity tariffs for the population are underestimated, and the real ones should be 30 percent higher, so get ready, comrades, you yourself know what. In my native Nizhny Novgorod region, even though this is one of the lowest quotas per person in terms of kWh in the country, then, after exhaustion, pay extra money ...
Plus, the second model of use for me personally, checking the device capacities declared by the manufacturer. For interest, I measured the consumption of a domestic soldering iron from a mica factory at 25W (my favorite soldering iron, more than one such one has fallen from time to time), the power came out a little higher than declared.
A little later I will buy another batch of new LED lamps, I will measure their power, otherwise the same “Era”, for example, has now become very rude (previously they also overestimated judging by other people's tests, but not so) according to the declared power and the actual luminous flux, which is noticeable even by eye (provided that the closed room is not large and there is one lamp, I had a bathroom until I hung a closed lamp for 2 lamps, you could even compare the numerical values \u200b\u200bfrom the readings of the smartphone luxmeter, and understand how much the difference is from the "reference" lamps).
Also, due to the remote nature of the work, i.e. from home, it was interesting to once again verify the consumption calculations of my PC assembled on the basis of a rather voracious E5-2667 + GT1030. According to estimates, it was about 150 watts, in fact, when you start the game, along with the monitor and speakers, about 150 watts.
Measurement of PC consumption while playing BFBC2 and during an RDP remote session
The cost auto-calculation function also helped here, I set 5rku per kilowatt there, and got how much for a working day + an hour of play, the PC consumes taking into account my consumption model, now having these data, you can calculate the “contribution” of the PC to the total consumption for the month (for more accuracy, you can take 3 days of them, zeroing every day, and calculate the average). Video with the amount of consumption, posted at the very beginning of the article.
When compared with the readings of multimeters, considering the values of consumption of the connected load to be settled (a heated soldering iron), it can be seen that the meter slightly overestimates the voltage (by about 1.3V), and slightly overestimates the current (by about 1mA), compared with two not the worst multimeters, from available to me, the indications of which I trust more, and consider them as a standard.
Opening the device. Filling
As you can see, current measurements are made using a copper shunt, there are a couple more capacitors on the board, a quartz resonator and the battery itself
By the way, the connecting wires are quite good in thickness, they can withstand 16A. Socket with curtains.
Conclusions
The device is very useful and quite accurate. The only thing is that the payback of this device is not a matter of one day, if you purchase it only in order to see which device consumes how much in reality.
Savings can be achieved, under certain usage scenarios, by reducing the activity of the appliance, either by starting it at night tariff, or by purchasing a more economical version of the appliance (if this is physically possible and economically feasible).
In theory, it is already clear which devices consume more power, but there are exact specifics with the device. Obviously, such troubles are not for everyone, and the benefit is not always so great in relation to the time spent.
On the other hand, there are a number of other applications where you can use this device and its capabilities, which I mentioned in the review, and real consumption data will not be superfluous.
